Welcome

Welcome to the website for Employment East Belfast

Employment East brings jobs, self-employment, business start-up, training and upskilling opportunities for people living in the Social Investment Fund (SIF) Zones in East Belfast.

Funded by the Social Investment Fund (SIF), Employment East is the Belfast East SIF Zone employability initiative led by Charter NI and delivered by a partnership between GEMS NI (service-delivery lead), Bryson FutureSkills, East Belfast Enterprise and Business in the Community. The project will run from October 2016 to March 2019.

Supported by a Project Board, Employment East has been designed to support people living in the Belfast East SIF Zone to improve their access to employment, self-employment/business start-up, training and upskilling opportunities.

Employment East provides eligible participants with mentoring support, employment and self-employment advice, opportunities to access skills and personal development training, self-employment/business start-up support and resources and opportunities to secure one of the 100 26-week paid job opportunities with a host employer.

Additionally, Employment East offers support to eligible participants who may be working part-time or in entry-level jobs, to upskill and improve their career prospects.

An Employment Forum, managed by Business in the Community has been established to support Employment East and create a dynamic platform that drives employment opportunities for participants.

Employment East will also host a number of job fairs aimed at bringing participants and employers together to explore current opportunities.

Business in the community is also supporting pupils in local primary and post-primary schools to engage with the world of work. This includes industry visits for school participants and business leaders/employers engaged directly with schools.
